The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Academia Consortium for Education, Research and Business Development. The signing ceremony, which took place at the University of Dubai, was attended by representatives from over 15 universities and government institutions, mostly based in the UAE.
The consortium is envisaged to be a collaborative effort to support the UAE vision 2021, through enriching the nation’s highly-educated workforce and addressing fundamental in-house, industry-relevant research issues. Some key areas that the consortium will seek to impact are education, research and business development, and community service.
Commenting at the ceremony, Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, AURAK president, stated, “This type of agreement fits in with our vision at AURAK, as we aim to cement our place as a top university in the region through the impact of our education and research. Through collaboration with our fellow institutions of higher education, we can share knowledge and expertise, offering our students a greater variety of opportunities.”
He continued, “This, ultimately, benefits the nation as a whole. We are producing knowledgeable, creative graduates, who through their experience at AURAK, are also well-aware of, and committed to, their civic responsibility.”
