Testing (Learning Support Services)

 

The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services can assist students in discovering their current learning strengths and provide guidance in obtaining habits that utilize those strengths to improve learning outcomes.

At AURAK, students are encouraged to be active participants in their own learning.  The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services.

Why do students seek testing services?

Testing Services offered include:

  • Cognitive Assessments
  • Achievement Assessments
  • ADHD Screenings
  • Learning Style Inventories

Cognitive Assessments

The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services has the ability to conduct cognitive assessments that identify students’ strengths in learning, as well as identify those areas that might negatively impact learning.  The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services can assist students with strategies and techniques, as well as obtain skills needed to target learning, utilizing their areas of strength which can positively impact learning.  Students may request assessment after speaking with the staff in the Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services.

Achievement Assessments

The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services has the ability to conduct achievement assessments that identify students’ current academic level.  These assessments allow the student to obtain information about gaps, in their current understanding, that may need extra support in order to proceed with a specific area of learning.  The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services can assist students with strategies and techniques as well as obtain skills needed to lessen the impact of learning gaps which can negatively impact learning.  Students may request assessment after speaking with the staff in the Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services.

ADHD Screening

The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services has the ability to conduct Attention Deficit Hyperactivity screenings.  Should a student be found to exhibit ADHD characteristics, they will be referred to their physician for final diagnosis.  The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services can assist students with strategies and techniques as well as obtain skills needed to negate the impact of ADHD which can negatively impact learning.  Students may request assessment after speaking with the staff in the Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services.

Learning Styles Inventories

The Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services has the ability to conduct informal learning styles inventories.  These inventories are targeted to provide students with information regarding their specific learning style such as verbal linguistic learner, kinesthetic learner, musical learner, visual spatial learner, and naturalistic learner, among others.  Upon discovery of the learning style the Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services will be able to make suggestions as to ways to study and learn which should positively impact the way the student’s learning.  Students may request assessment after speaking with the staff in the Department of Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services.
