Placement Test

Placement Tests are an integral part of the application process, determining your academic level and readiness for university-level study.
These tests typically measure skills in English and mathematics and provide universities with a fair and accurate assessment of a student's abilities, so they can ensure they are placed in appropriately challenging courses that will set them up for success.
Upon applying for admission to AURAK, applicants who are missing the required English language proficiency score, such as EmSAT/TOEFL/IELTS, will need to take AURAK’s English placement test. The placement test determines students’ level of fluency in English in order to place them in a course that meets their needs. AURAK uses the Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT), a computer adaptive test which measures test takers’ English language proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). An interactive demonstration of the Oxford Online Placement Test is available here.
The OOPT is administered by AURAK’s Center for Executive and Professional Education. New students can book their English placement test through Admissions.
Placement into the appropriate mathematics course is determined by ACCUPLACER, a computer-adaptive placement test. ACCUPLACER evaluates students’ abilities in mathematics so that they are placed in the appropriate mathematics course that meets their skill level. A description of the Advanced Algebra and Functions test and Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics test as well as sample test questions can be found here.
ACCUPLACER is administered by AURAK’s Center for Executive and Professional Education. New students can schedule their ACCUPLACER test through Admissions.
