Undergraduate Programs – Preparing Employees to work in Biotechnology and Mass Communication

The Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology Program, with separate concentrations in Cell and Molecular Biotechnology, and Medical Biotechnology (plus a further planned in Forensic Science) aims to produce successful professionals to apply their knowledge in the workplace or research settings in the biotechnology industry. Our graduates are biologically literate citizens who are capable of contributing to responsible decision making. We pride ourselves on preparing students who can work productively in teams, and function effectively in diverse cultural environments using the most advanced technology.

The Mass Communications Program focuses on mastery of the theory and practical application of mass communication.  In undertaking industry specific practical work as part of their studies, students are able to demonstrate agility in completing work-relevant tasks efficiently and effectively. Students strengthen their problem-solving abilities, which increases their self-confidence and readiness to face the challenges they will face when joining the workforce as mass communication professionals. This reinforces the basic skills acquired while studying, in particular the use of convergent technologies as the latest trend in multimedia practices in the field of digital media and public relations.

Skills Enhancement for Educators

AURAK’s Master of Education in Educational Leadership (MEEL) program equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in leading positive change to solve the dynamic challenges facing education today. MEEL Students are challenged to grow professionally, personally, and intellectually. Real-world research skills, diverse discourse, and reflective practice are embedded throughout the MEEL program. Combined, these three areas of focus provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage in data-driven decision making, while fostering dialogue with individuals who may hold differing viewpoints.

This collaborative, and authentic, approach to problem-solving is inspired by the real work of teachers and school leaders who are working to improve performance within schools. The emphasis on reflective practice means that MEEL students are trained to engage metacognitively in evaluating their own thought processes and actions. By engaging in this cycle of reflection, students learn that leadership is more than management: it is not simply completing assigned tasks, leadership means inspiring positive action and engaging in the hard work required for growth and improvement. In short, AURAK’s MEEL program provides a unique learning experience, inspired by educational practice in the USA and designed for the UAE, to help students grow into impactful educational leaders.
