Provost Message

At the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, through inspired teaching, research, creative work, and community engagement, we offer a student-centered learning environment that will prepare our graduates to change the world.  To realize this vision, the university has attracted a talented and accomplished group of faculty members who are committed to promoting student success and transformation through high-impact educational practices. These practices encourage students to be active participants in the learning process both inside and outside the classroom.

As we pursue the university’s strategic plan, we will continue to enhance our 18 bachelor’s degree programs across our School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, and School of Engineering, all accredited by the Ministry of Education of the UAE. To further enhance the university’s reputation for academic excellence and rigor, we have secured accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), one of the regional accrediting bodies in the United States.

To prepare our students to become global citizens, all undergraduate programs of study require completion of the General Education program consisting of coursework from fine arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and the natural sciences and mathematics. This coursework is designed to help students cultivate broad-based abilities for gaining and creating new knowledge as they navigate their professional careers and for understanding and appreciating the varieties of human experience that shape world cultures.

To further the development of a global perspective in our students, AURAK offers a number of international options for students to study for a semester or more at one of our partner universities around the world. For example, we now have the opportunity for engineering students to pursue a ‘three-plus-two’ program in which they can earn a Bachelor of Science degree from AURAK and a Master’s degree from one of three U.S. institutions – Wayne State University, University of Texas at Arlington, or University of Wyoming.

AURAK is also proud to be a leading provider of graduate level education in Ras Al Khaimah and the Northern Emirates. We are pleased to offer four master’s degree programs: Master of Education in Educational Leadership, M.S. in Engineering Project Management, MBA, and Executive MBA.

As we continue to enhance our existing programs, we are also pursuing the development of a number of new academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Please feel free to talk with representatives in the Admissions Office about the new programs under development.
