Engineering Club
The AURAK Engineering Club was founded to host events related to the broad culture of engineering in an informal setting. All engineering students are encouraged to join the club, to participate in its activities, to explore or further their interests, and to make new friends.
The club supports extra-curricular and co-curricular activities to supplement academic programs within the School of Engineering. Membership also helps students to acquire important skills such as leadership and organizational skills, team work, and event planning. The club activities are carefully planned with the purpose of exposing engineering students to a diverse variety of cultural, social, and educational experiences.
The Engineering Club enhances the education and professional development of engineering students, promotes the School of Engineering, serves the community, and provides a medium for students to develop relationships with fellow students, faculty, and professionals.
Objectives
- To create a close student-faculty relationship by periodically bringing together the thoughts and needs of both.
- Organize industry tours, educational presentations, social events, and community service activities.
- Provide students with a chance to gain leadership experience.
- Organize seminars on all facets of engineering.
- Organize exhibitions on engineering subjects, and provide professional training opportunities.
- Educate students about work opportunities and professional activities within their technical field.
- Encourage participation in international student exchange programs.
- The president is the chief executive of the club.
- The president is in charge of setting the goals to be achieved every semester. The goals must be discussed with, and approved by, the club members. The membership should be kept fully informed about all relevant to the Engineering club business. The strategic plan and list of activities should be updated semester wise.
- Preside at all meetings of the club and the club board and supervise activities
- Appoint and brief the chairmen of standing and special committees, with the exception of the nominating committee (which is elected) and monitor the progress of club committee toward achieving club goals and fulfilling their task
- Present recommended club activities for approval
- Ensure timely submission of reports and proposals
Vice President:
- Cover for the President in his/her absence
- Assist the President in major club events ie. visiting vendors, club event
- Attend all board Meetings and monthly club meetings
Secretary:
- Responsible for the Club’s records, it is imperative that the secretary be prompt, neat organized, and efficient. This means that the secretary must be organized in his/her approach, and the club’s records must be kept up to date and well organized
- Attend all board Meetings and monthly club meetings
- The secretary should record the following about at each regular Club meeting: Number of members present, names of those absent, list of guests attending, and presiding officer.
- The Engineering Club file to be maintained shall include the following:
- Engineering Club Timeline
- Minutes of all club meetings-regular and board meetings
- Committee reports
- List of committee chairs and members
- Club’s past achievement reports
- Club’s past monthly reports
- Copies of current and past AURAK Engineering magazines
- Club roster having the following information for each member
*Member’s full name, AURAK ID, phone, and e-mail address
*Date of birth
*Date of joining Engineering Club
*Committee assignments and offices held in Engineering Club
*Chief interest in Engineering Club work and activities, in addition to chief interest in the Engineering field
*Names, Phone Numbers, Emails and addresses of present Engineering Club officers.
Treasurer:
- The treasurer be is responsible for keeping accurate records that will enable him/her to give a full financial report whenever requested. The treasurer should do his/her best to see that everything is done properly meticulously so that there are no doubts about his/her integrity
- Prepare the club’s budget, present it to the board for approval, and ensure that club activities adhere to the budget
- Maintain accurate financial records throughout the year to be reviewed at any time by members, other officers, or administration.
Editor:
- The role of club editor is that of a public relations officer. The editor makes sure the club, and even the public, is informed about the Engineering Club activities and events. The club Editor needs to works alongside the secretary to be an informed officer and to use the correct and necessary information for newsletters, fliers, bulletins, and publicity stunts pieces
- Produce a monthly electronic update in the form a newsletter or a simple document to members providing the following information:
- Important dates
- Upcoming events
- Officer information
- Meeting schedule
- Review of completed projects and events
- Committee reports updates
- President’s message
- Reminders
