The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has been selected to receive a Letter of Honorable Mention in recognition of the Chapter’s outstanding activities in 2019.

The letter was a “significant achievement,” said Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, President of AURAK. “Another achievement to be added as a chapter to our success story. This would definitely make every member of the AURAK family proud of you,” he added.

Only the top third of all student organizations receive such a letter.

“I would like to congratulate Dr. Fayez Moutassem, the chapter’s faculty mentor, and the members of the AURAK ASCE Student Chapter who have made an outstanding effort in raising the international profile of the Department of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, the School of Engineering and AURAK,” said Dr. Hamed Assaf, Interim Dean, School of Engineering.

“I would like to mention below the names of all students who are responsible for this great achievement: Ahmad Zakerya Dost Mohammad, Ahmed Yaser Asaad, Manar Alchino, Sayed Nahiyan,  Shumayal Nassar, Muhammad Sufyanuddin, Ahmed Abdelnaby, Zina Zghami, Mohammed Zaqout and Essam Mohamed,” Dr Hamed added.

ASCE Student Chapter activities are valuable for the growth and development of undergraduate civil engineers because they help develop teamwork, leadership, creativity, and project management skills.
