AURAK Faculty-Led Program “Doing Business Across Europe”

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah Office of Student Success and Advancement in collaboration with the Department of International Programs and Partnerships and the School of Business organized the first AURAK Faculty-Led Program “Doing Business Across Europe” in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain for summer 2019. The program is led by the Associate Provost Denise Gifford who accompanied 3 AURAK students in this summer program. Mohammed Al Shehhi, Khalifa Al Hashmi and Imran Aliyu,  3 Business students joined  “Doing Business Across Europe” and upon successful completion of this course/trip will have earned 6 credit hours which will be transferred to AURAK:

  • BUSN 312 Public Policy and Ethics
  • UNIV 200 Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The 6 week program, took place from June 10-July 26, 2019, included 2 weeks of preparatory sessions held at AURAK from June 10-23.  The Dean of the School of Business, Professor Joseph Wallis and Associate Provost Denise Gifford led the 2 week session.  The students and Dr. Denise Gifford then traveled to the International Summer School: Germany “Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences, Rosenheim Germany”where the student studied Rosenheim Course: Business Ethics (3 US credit) for an intensive week 3.  The students then traveled to the International Summer School: Netherlands “Windesheim University of Applied Sciences” where they were provided with an intense course: Global Circular Economy (1.5 US credits) for the 4th week.

The students will travel to the International Summer School: Spain “Ramon Llul University where the students will study Ramon Course: Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management (1.5 US credits) for the 5th week. Upon the return to AURAK, the students will again have a one week session where they will complete their course of study, review, reflect and assess course-learning outcomes for all three courses.  The final week of classes will be led by Dean Wallis and Associate Provost Denise Gifford.
