AURAK Holds Orientation for New Faculty Members
August 29, 2019,
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has hosted a five-day orientation packed with essential information for new faculty members to bring them up to speed on university services, policies and procedures.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success, Professor Stephen Wilhite, held the first day of orientation on August 25 and delivered multiple presentations on faculty obligations in teaching, research and service. The academic deans of the institutions then did presentations on their areas.
“Every day I am humbled by how selflessly our faculty sacrifices their time and effort to ensure that everyone achieves their goals,” said AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim. “It is by the sweat and tears from these amazing individuals that the success of AURAK is founded. AURAK produces numerous successful, global citizens because of the magnanimous examples they are provided to emulate.”
Professor Wilhite and other presenters addressed programs and support services available to faculty, including presentations on advising practices, Blackboard, AURAK’s General Education program and more.
The session ended with a panel discussion including both faculty and student representation, addressing AURAK culture.
