Three Engineering Graduation Projects Win Best Design at AURAK Engineering Design and Research Day

June 1, 2022,

Three innovative projects by American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) senior engineering students won best engineering design projects at the AURAK Engineering Design and Research Day organized by School of Engineering (SOE) on May 19,2022.

The 10 graduation projects done by SOE students reflected their soft and hard skills that they have gained during their academic journey at AURAK and gave them an opportunity to learn more about professional practice in solving real-world problems.

The event was a platform to present a wide range of innovative engineering project concepts of the six engineering disciplines including civil and infrastructure, mechanical, chemical, electrical, electronics and communications and computer science.

The mechanical engineering student team Ahmed Abdelaal and Abdalla Abdelmawgoud won first place for their project “Electromagnetic Braking System”. In second place came the computer science and engineering project “Energy-efficient Voice-Activated Home Automation System” presented by Saeed Mohamed Alqahtanim, Omran Suhail Alblooshi, Hessh Majed Salem Bin Bakheet Alnuaimi and Asma Ahmed Saleh Alsuwaileh Alzaabi, followed by the project “Converting a manual Bending Machine to Semi-automated” in third place that was done by mechanical engineering senior students Ahmed Abdul Rasheed, Ibrahim Awad and Amro Musaad.

These design projects were innovated under the supervision of Dr. Basem Yousef, Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Arfan Ghani, Associate Professor in Computer Engineering.
