A team of researchers from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah and the American University of Sharjah marks ‘International Women’s Day’, 2022 with the relaunch of the Virtual Center for Women & Organizations. The project is a research study that supports values of ‘International Women’s Day’(March 8th, 2022) – “A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive”. https://www.internationalwomensday.com/ .The research is part of a project aiming to empower women’s leadership;‘‘Women in Organisations – from Theory to Practice in the United Arab Emirates (Ras al Khaimah and the Northern Emirates).’’ This study is supported by a research grant from the ”Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research”.
The research team includes:
- Professor Linzi J Kemp
- Sabir Haque
- Mohamad Osman Shereif Mahdi Abaker
- Professor Norita Ahmad.
The virtual center is a portal that celebrates women’s achievement and development of women’s empowerment in the United Arab Emirates and the wider region. It offers a rich legacy of years of research applied to practice that showcases women’s achievements in the region and offers freely available professional development resources to trainers, teachers, and individual women.
One of the key takeaways from the portal is the ‘‘Expert list’‘ to facilitate maximizing women’s professional expertise. The lack of female representation in the public forum and media has led to the creation of this powerful resource to help locate women with knowledge and experience to assure gender balance for all audiences and in all endeavors.
The Virtual Center for Women & Organizations will also host a podcast series to include personal interviews with working women in the Northern Emirates, featuring their fascinating stories of life journeys, from where they started to now!
