May 9, 2019,
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, and American Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST) Country Director, Mrs. Rula Dajani, signed a memorandum of understanding, agreeing to cooperate in English language acquisition among AURAK staff and faculty.
AMIDEAST is an American educational organization engaged in international education, training, and development activities. AMIDEAST’s English language training programs offer instruction designed to enable participants to become proficient in the English language.
AURAK is a government-owned institution of higher education, providing an integrated North American education. It is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE and SACSCOC, offering twenty-two undergraduate and graduate programs across various disciplines.
Both institutions agreed to cooperate in the preparation of AURAK students and staff to take the TOEFL ITP, a test that assesses a person’s academic English Language ability, by exploring business opportunities with agencies external to AURAK, and by helping AMIDEAST facilitate workplace behavioral assessments and training programs. AMIDEAST will provide presenters for initiatives; expertise in designing training programs for corporate clients; guidance to reinitiate TOEFL IBT testing; and free online diagnostic assessments for prospective candidate program placement. AURAK will provide admission-related events in which AMIDEAST will promote TOEFL ITP; schedule and nominate staff and teachers for TOEFL ITP workshops and teachers and organize dates for the TOEFL ITP information sessions for students and the public; promote TOEFL tests to prospective students through the university; coordinate and facilitate meetings with key government entities to explore avenues where AURAK may provide services utilizing AMIDEAST expertise; liaise with AMDIEAST for potential Business English and PMP courses; and launch TOEFL test prep courses with AMIDEAST.
Professor Hassan was pleased with the University’s collaboration with AMIDEAST in that this initiative will result in the integration of the TOEFL program to better accommodate the students in their English Language acquisition.
