AURAK Holds Flag Day Ceremony
November 4, 2019,
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) held a Flag Day ceremony with the raising of the United Arab Emirates flag to pay homage to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, raised the flag on the campus while the national anthem was played at an event attended by roughly 200 students, faculty and staff. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and balloons in the national colors were released.
Flag Day is a UAE national holiday when the people celebrate the anniversary of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s inauguration as president in 2004 and commemorate the sacrifices made by the country’s founders, Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Rashid, and their brothers, in unifying the emirates into a single unit. Flag Day is held every November 3.
The UAE flag has become the embodiment of justice, peace, tolerance, power, unification, greatness, and moderation, a token of the people’s aspirations for a brighter future. Emiratis across the UAE sing the country’s national anthem, hoist the flag above buildings and backyards, organize festivals, and salute the flag in demonstration of their loyalty to their government and as a declaration of their national pride.
