AURAK Anticipates Expo 2020 Live Participation
The Department of Student Life of the American University of Ras Al-Khaimah (AURAK) arranged the second meeting with the Expo 2020 Live team to discuss the possibilities of AURAK participation in the Expo Live Young Innovation Program.
Expo Live is a partnership program created to encourage development of solutions that will inspire progress on a global scale, capitalizing on the massive influence of the World Expo as a space in which to share ideas from around the world. The Innovation Program, launched by Expo 2020 Dubai, seeks to stimulate creative thinking and collaboration among university students to solve various challenges facing the UAE and Gulf region and support their innovative projects.
The meeting was attended by the Dean of Engineering, Professor Mousa Mohsen, the Dean of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Daniel Kirk, and various other AURAK faculty members to further explain and discuss AURAK’s possible participation. Professor Mohsen has enthusiastically set one of the Engineering department’s academic year objectives at entering ten student projects into the expo.
Dr. Kirk also believes this opportunity to be one of great promise for AURAK, “One of the most exciting elements of the Expo 2020 Live program is that it enables our students to get directly involved in the process of innovative learning. The program allows for us to truly think in new ways and address problems through exciting and meaningful approaches. The Expo 2020 Live program, along with the Expo itself, is a way for AURAK to tap into, and contribute to, a wider, global community of innovators and change-makers.”
AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, remains optimistic about AURAK’s involvement in Expo 2020 Live, “Exploration propels innovation, which propels economic growth. Expo 2020 Live is the perfect opportunity for students to explore the unlimited possibilities in combining research-based theories, cutting-edge technology, and their inventive thinking to solidify a prosperous future.”
