The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has this week attended the annual conference of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The conference was held in Houston, Texas, in the United States between the 5th and 8th of December, 2015.

A group of Emirati job-seekers have today graduated from a professional training course at AURAK’s Center for Continuing Education.

In line with the vision of AURAK President, Professor Hassan Al Alkim, students and faculty from the AURAK Department of Biotechnology actively participate in national and international events. AURAK has participated in Second Annual Congress and Exhibition MEMBS 2015, Istanbul, organized by the Middle East Molecular Biology Society (MEMBS) at Istanbul Congress Center.

The people of Ras Al Khaimah gathered this morning, for the launch of the ‘Innovation Exhibition’ at RAK Exhibition Center. The three day exhibition is part of the UAE-wide initiative, ‘Innovation Week’ which celebrates the creativity and inventiveness of the country’s citizens.

As AURAK continues to participate in UAE Innovation Week 2015, a second day or workshops was held at the University, today entitled ‘Innovative Education through Technology’.

As part of the University’s participation in UAE Innovation Week 2015, an initiative implemented by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which runs from Sunday, 22nd November, to Saturday, 28th November, the AURAK Center of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) organized a seminar entitled, “How to Innovate in a Smart City and Become an Entrepreneur”.

Professor W. Julian Korab-Karpowicz, from the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Zayed University, Dubai, has visited the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) in order to speak about his latest book entitled ‘Tractatus Politico-Philosphicus and the Seven Principles of a Happy Society’.

Police officers were awarded certificates at Ras Al Khaimah Police General Head Quarters, having completed a course in risk management at RAK Research and Innovation Center (RAKRIC) which is part of American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK).

Head of the DNA Unit at RAK Police, Mr. Bushra Idris, paid a visit to the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. The forensic scientist today delivered an engaging lecture in Building D, discussing the role of genetics in crime scene analysis.

RAK Police gave a lecture, open to the public, at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. The lecture was entitled, ‘Your Life is More Important than Your Call’. Several students attended the one-hour lecture, as well as staff and faculty members.

On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) organized a visit to Obaidullah Hospital – a specialist medical facility for the elderly – in Ras Al Khaimah.

On the AURAK campus, a graduation ceremony was held for 20 female students who earned a professional diploma in Statistics from the AURAK Center for Continuing Education. Ten of the students were employees of the Ras Al Khaimah government and ten of the students were job seekers.

On May 2015, Dr. Abdulla Ismail, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Assistant to the President, of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Dubai, gave a presentation entitled Smart Grid for Smart City at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah campus.

The Third International Conference on Global Warming: Food Security was held at Al Hamra Convention Center in Ras Al Khaimah. Six AURAK students, under the supervision of Dr. Irshad Ahmad, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, submitted their work to the conference.

At the Bedouin Oasis Camp outside of Ras Al Khaimah, an AURAK community event that included faculty, staff and students raised money for two local charities: RAK Autism Center and the Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare Center. A total of AED 1,250 was raised and will be divided between the two non-profit organizations.
