AURAK Hosts 5th Global Day

March 17, 2016,

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah has hosted its 5th annual Global Day, celebrating the cultural diversity offered at the University.

The afternoon began with an Olympic-style parade of all the participating countries, led by the RAK Police band.  Students, staff, faculty and several visitors who came to the university to witness the celebration, were then able to visit the variety of stalls which were constructed to demonstrate aspects of each country’s culture.

Throughout the evening, there were a number of traditional performances from the University’s student body, which is composed of a total of 41 different nationalities.  The UAE, Syria, Jordan and Sudan all performed their respective traditional dances, with local school students also taking part.

Professor Hassan Al Alkim, President of the University, praised AURAK’s uniqueness in terms of its diversity, and thanked everyone for the large turnout which made the event an overwhelming success.
