
AURAK Places Third in “Think Science” Competition

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has finished third place in the 2016 ‘Think Science’ competition and fair, in the category of energy and environmental sciences.
AURAK students, Aaesha Al Bakr, Aliya Al Awadi, Sara Abu Jarad, and Ferdinand Calangi, all of whom study chemical engineering, represented the University at the national level competition with their project entitled ‘Nanotechnology in Waste Water Treatment’.
The ‘Think Science’ competition was hosted by the Emirates Foundation at the Dubai World Trade Centre. A total of 235 projects were developed and completed by more than 640 university and high school students across the United Arab Emirates gathered to showcase their innovative research projects.
The students’ project, which was produced under the supervision of Dr. Irshad Ahmad and Dr. Shagufta Waseem, was selected as an outstanding research project. Following their success, the researchers were invited to present their findings to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
