AURAK Receives Japanese Vice Consul

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) this morning received the vice consul of the Consulate General of Japan, Mr. Masataka Sugimoto.

The vice consul met Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, AURAK president, as well as Dr. Bilal Akash, Dr. Claudette Williams and Mr. Abdulla Shahin, in order to discuss potential cooperation with the university, specifically in terms of attracting Japanese students to Ras Al Khaimah and the promotion of Japanese culture.

Mr. Sugimoto, visiting Ras Al Khaimah for the first time, spoke of the emirate’s natural beauty and praised the visibility of the traditional Emirati culture on show in the UAE’s most northern emirate. The two parties discussed potential exchange and study abroad programs, as well as collaboration with Japanese universities.

Commenting on the visit, Prof. Al Alkim stated, “AURAK is constantly seeking to establish international relationships, as this brings mutual benefits and helps us respond to trends within education and the job market. We are also very proud of the environment that we have created here at AURAK, which actively encourages diversity and cultural understanding. I look forward to building on this initial meeting and cooperating with our Japanese counterparts.”

AURAK currently has three partners in East Asia and Southeast Asia: Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong, China), Konkuk University (Seoul, South Korea) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
