Art Competition Winners Announced

The Center for Teaching, Learning and Instructional Technology at AURAK has announced the winners of its student art competition after faculty, staff and students cast their votes after viewing the artwork on display in Building F.

A diverse array of artwork, including paintings, pencil drawings and photographs, from students of all majors and disciplines, was submitted for the competition, which culminated in an awards ceremony on UAE Flag Day. Dean of Student Services and Enrollment Management, Dr. Rusty Waller, was on hand to present the winners with their prizes.

The overall winner was Osha Al Qassimi, who submitted a painting of popular Marvel hero, Wolverine from X-Men, citing her love for the character as the inspiration behind her work. Wafaa Abu Mustafa was awarded for her highly-detailed pencil drawings, while Bahja Aden’s photograph of a beautiful Ras Al Khaimah sunset also earned her a prize.

Sana Sy’s photo of the view over the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah and Maryam Al Shehhi’s serene photograph of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi were also recognized. Dr. Rusty, Dean of AURAK’s Student Services and Enrolment Department extolled the winners, commending each individual for the time and commitment dedicated to producing such wonderful pieces of art.

The competition was organized by the Art Club’s Yara Al Chouhf in conjunction with the Center for Teaching, Learning and Instructional Technology and the School of Arts and Sciences, the General Education Committee and the Student Services and Enrolment Department. Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Instructional Technology, Dr. Bryn Holmes, praised the students’ enthusiasm for the competition, and confirmed that there will further activities in the near future.
