Muataz Al Hazza is holding a BSc in Metallurgy Engineering (1983) and MSc in Engineering Management (1988). Both from the Production and Metallurgy Department/ University of Technology / Baghdad-Iraq.  He did his PhD in Engineering in 2012 in the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)

He started his career as a quality control engineer at the Government sector from 1983 to 1986. He was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in the University of Technology /Production and Metallurgy Department/industrial engineering branch/Baghdad/Iraq from 1988 to 2000. From 2000 up 2006 he was the CEO and technical manager in a private industrial company in Iraq.

From September 2012 until July 2019 he was a member of staff in the material and manufacturing department in the faculty of engineering in International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). In addition to teaching, Dr Muataz was in involved in research and  published about 80 research paper in indexed journals and conferences. He had supervised about 30 PhD and master student. Dr Muataz is a project management professional (PMP) holder and certified from PMI since January 2018.

Dr Muataz joined the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE in fall 2019.
