Professor Bilal Akash is currently the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research, and was promoted to full professor in Mechanical Engineering in 2003. He has more than 25 years of academic experience working at several institutions. Prior to joining AURAK, he was the Dean of the College of Engineering at Dhofar University, professor of mechanical engineering and founding faculty of engineering at King Faisal University. Also, he was a faculty member at Hashemite University, Qatar University, Applied Science University, and Southern Illinois University. He has served as an editorial board member for numerous international journals and has chaired many international conferences.

Professor Bilal attended Southern Illinois University, USA where he earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1992, his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1987, and his B. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1984.

Research

Professor Bilal is author and coauthor of more than 100 articles in international journals and conferences with a Scopus h-index of 23 and Google Scholar h-index of 33. His work includes thermodynamic analysis of internal combustion engines, combustion, pyrolysis, liquefaction of solid fossil fuels, heat transfer, sustainability, energy analysis and engineering systems, solar distillation, renewable and alternative energy desalination.
