Students Visit RAK Research and Innovation Center
November 10, 2019,
RAK Research and Innovation Center (RAKRIC) received visits by two groups of higher education students to see its facilities and hear about its work.
Twenty students from the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering programs at Curtin University, Dubai, travelled to RAKRIC. Their trip consisted of a presentation giving tips on writing research papers, Solar PV system design and installation, project management, and safety. The presentation also included RAKRIC facilities and projects, along with a tour around the site to get an idea about some of the facilities such as the Solar Tent, PV testing lab, Solar Calorimeter, and RAKRIC Solar PV system.
A photovoltaic (PV) system is designed to supply usable power by means of photovoltaics, the conversion of light into electricity using semiconducting materials.
The supervisor of the Curtin University group showed an interest in students joining RAKRIC for internships or research.
Shortly afterwards, another 20 students from Electrical Engineering programs at the University of Bolton, Ras Al Khaimah, visited RAKRIC on a similar program to the one offered to Curtin University students.
RAK Research and Innovation Center is a state-of-the-art R&D center which develops sustainable systems related to solar technology. The center is intended to act as a bridge between academics and industry’s development of new products. RAKRIC also works in the field of consultancy, performance tests, technology integration, energy auditing, system development and technology transfer to industry.
