
AURAK students received their first communication from the MeznSat at their on-campus satellite ground station in the early hours of Tuesday the 29th of September, at 1.41am Gulf Standard Time. The three-unit CubeSat was launched onboard a Soyuz 2.1b rocket from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Russia at 3.20pm GST on Monday. It was built by students from AURAK and Khalifa University. The project team consisted of AURAK’s Dr. Abdul-Halim Jallad and sixteen students working diligently to ensure that everything was in place for the successful launch and establishment of the ground station. The student team includes: Aala Al Tuneiji, Ahmed Aadel Alali, Ahmed Al Blooshi, Aisha El Allam, Basel Refaat Al Tawil, Fatima Ayman Aly, Fatma Ramadan, Hamda Ali Al Shehhi, Haya Alajjal, Maryam Alnuaimi, Nouf Mohammed Al Teneiji, Raouf Reda Elashry, Rashed Abu Jarad, Shamma Jamali, Shamsa Al Qassimi, Shadi Ben Aderrahman.
