Mission
The Center for Learning Support Services, Advising, and e-Learning Programs support the application of the latest theory and research to enhance knowledge instruction and acquisition at AURAK. The Center seeks to contribute to a culture of research-based improvements to best scaffold professors in their teaching, course design, and students’ learning, including the online learning context. The Center also works with faculty to identify ways to enhance academic advising in response to student needs.
Vision
The vision of the Center for Learning Support Services, Advising, and eLearning Programs is to support AURAK in becoming one of the strongest universities in the region, recognized for its culture of student learning, excellent teaching, and related scholarship and research.
Goals
- Identify and respond to the dynamic nature of student needs and learning
- Research and highlight best practices in teaching and learning internationally and on the AURAK campus.
- Support and scaffold professors in their teaching and students in their learning.
- Design and create course content and test the enhancement of student learning.
- Train and tutor faculty in pedagogy through open and certified courses.
- Search for and contribute to research funding that supports teaching and learning.
- Support the enhancement of advising at AURAK
Center’s Director
Since she was young, Dr. Bryn Holmes has had a strong desire to explore the world and constantly seek new knowledge. Her passion for challenges led her to obtain a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. Driven by her love for innovative approaches, she even authored a book on e-learning. With a deep appreciation for diverse cultures, she has spent over 15 years teaching and conducting research in various countries, including Ireland, the UK, Japan, Canada, and currently at AURAK in the UAE.
