The election nomination, campaigning and voting took place online during the closure of the campus as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19.
AURAK students elected Shimy Xavier John Matthew to be SGA President and Omar Mohamed Abdelnabi Sayed to be the SGA’s Public Relations Officer.
The SGA elections included for the first time online candidate applications, online candidate video campaign speeches and online voting by students.
Elections to fill other SGA posts will be held in September.
The SGA represents the student body, provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate leadership and serves as a liaison between the students and the University administration. It also plays an important role in planning and sponsoring student campus activities and events.
