AURAK appoints Prof Khalid Hussain as new Dean of the School of Engineering

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah recently appointed Professor Khalid Hussain as the new Dean of the School of Engineering.

American University of Ras Al Khaimah recently appointed Professor Khalid Hussain as the new Dean of the School of Engineering. Prof Hussain, an esteemed systems engineer, brings with him the requisite academic profile, industry experience, and agility to steer the School to new levels of success to accomplish and to achieve his objective of developing high-caliber engineers and computer scientists graduates who will be able to make great contribution and brings prosperities to societies.

Prof. Hussain has earned his BSc in Applied Mathematics at Manchester Metropolitan University in the U.K. and completed his PhD in Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Vehicle Noise & Vibration, from the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Loughborough, U.K.   

Prior to joining AURAK, Prof. Hussain spent six years at the University of Wollongong in Dubai as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, and as Head of the School of Engineering at the University of Bradford in the U.K. He has more than 30 years of teaching, research and industrial experience. His professional and academic expertise lies within the area of leadership and management in learning, teaching and research within the higher education. He has significant experience in curriculum development, quality assurance and enhancement.

Professor Hussain’s research expertise lies in the areas of Dynamics and Control and Applied Mathematical Modelling of Engineering Systems. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and member of the UK Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He is also a member of the UKQAA Institutional Reviewers Committee.

As dean, Prof Hussain will oversee seven undergraduate majors and three master's level programs in Engineering, and two programs in Computer Science. Programs include artificial intelligence, computer science, computer engineering, architecture, interior design, chemical engineering, petroleum, engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil & infrastructure engineering.
