AURAK Digs Deep into the Publishing Process
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) School of Graduate Studies and Research featured Professor Sardar Islam in its Public Lecture Series in presenting “Tips for Successful Research Contributions.”
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) School of Graduate Studies and Research featured Professor Sardar Islam in its Public Lecture Series in presenting “Tips for Successful Research Contributions.”
Professor Sardar M. N. Islam has lived, studied, worked in, and visited various countries around the world. At Victoria University, he is associated with the Financial Modeling Program, the Law and Economics Program, and the Decision Sciences and Modeling Program. He has thirty years of academic experience in teaching, supervision, and multi-disciplinary research. His teaching, supervision, and research interests are in finance, economics, management science, accounting, business, and law. He has published extensively in the integrated areas of these disciplines, and his research has gained international acclaim.
Professor Sardar spent the day at AURAK visiting various AURAK Business Professors giving professional advice on how they could improve their academic publication opportunities and concluded the day with a presentation open to the AURAK community. In his presentation, he stressed the importance of researching and selecting appropriate, quality journals, explained how to tailor articles for specific journals, and described the publication process. Professor Sardar’s major piece of advice was to “produce something new.” An article should have a clear purpose and offer an original claim that is both significant and relevant to the journal.
“It is essential for students to learn the ins and outs of academic research,” stated AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, “and Professor Sardar’s lecture was focused at the heart of the matter. I am pleased that AURAK has the ability to bring in forerunning experts such as him from which to learn. These experiences are crucial for students to develop into professionals of the future.”
