AURAK Represented at Arab-Euro Conference in Morocco

A delegation from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) represented the university at the 4th annual Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education (AECHE) conference, hosted this year at Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco.

AECHE is designed to bring together the members of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU), of which AURAK is in the process of obtaining full accreditation membership, and the European University Association (EUA), in order to open a sustainable process of dialogue, mutual understanding, to exchange knowledge and to increase cooperation between Arab and European Universities.

Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, AURAK president, was keen to stress the importance of such events, stating, “Cooperation of this kind is vital to the future of both regions. We must continue to learn from each other and work together, as education and mutual understanding is key to understanding and addressing a whole range of contemporary issues.”

The three-day conference began with welcomes from Saaïd Amzazi, president of Mohammed V University, Sultan Abu Oraibi, secretary general of the AARU, and Ramon Torrent from the University of Barcelona, while the conference’s opening speech was delivered by Christina Russo, Director for International Cooperation, European Commission, Directorate General for Research and Innovation.

The AECHE conference alternates between Europe and the Arab world, having previously been hosted in Barcelona, twice, and Amman, Jordan.
