AURAK School of Arts & Sciences Holds Annual Advisory Council Meeting

The AURAK School of Arts & Sciences held its annual Advisory Council meeting. Attendees included Dr. Mohammed Bulhamam, Advisory Council Chair, Dr. Ahmed Al Shamsi, Member, Dr. Khulood Yousef Gharib Al Mansoori, Member, Prof. Abdelmajid Kassem, Dean, Dr. Richard Gauvain, Associate Dean, Dr. Mustapha Merabet, Chair, Math and Natural Sciences, Dr. Justina Osa, Chair, Humanities & Social Sciences, Dr. Osayimwense Osa, Chair, English, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Chair, Biotechnology.
The meeting confirmed the ongoing interest in promoting the arts and sciences within AURAK. Dean Kassem gave a presentation addressing each of the relevant achievements and challenges of the School’s departments. As he spoke, he invited the Associate Dean and Department Chairs to comment on their particular areas of interest. The response from the visiting council members was positive. Of particular interest to them was the remarkable growth of the Biotechnology program, which accounts for over one half of the students in the School of Arts and Sciences.
The council meeting served as an introduction between the university’s external partners and the seasoned new faculty that are leading the School of Arts & Sciences.
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is an independent co-education institution of Higher Education that provides an integrated American-style, undergraduate and graduate education with a strong focus on local indigenous culture. The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research accredit all of AURAK’s programs.
