A delegation from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has visited the Ministry of Health and Prevention headquarters in Dubai in order to discuss the university’s biotechnology program.

The delegation, which consisted of Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, president of the university, Prof. Bilal Akash, provost, Prof. Steven Zani, dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Maxime Merheb, an associate professor of biology who teaches a number of the biotechnology program’s core courses, met H. E. Dr. Salem Al Darmki, minister’s advisor, and H. E. Awadh Alketbi, assistant undersecretary for support services.

The parties discussed the merits of the university’s biotechnology program, agreeing on further cooperation to promote opportunities in terms of internships and job opportunities, for both Emirati and expatriate students.

Prof. Al Alkim, upon conclusion of the meeting, stated, “This discussion was a great success. We strongly believe in the strength of our programs and that we are producing graduates of the highest level. As such, we continuously strive to ensure that they have the best opportunities, not only while enrolled at the university, but also after they graduate.”

AURAK’s biotechnology program occupies a highly-popular niche within the School of Arts and Sciences, as students can choose a concentration in medical biotechnology or cell and molecular biotechnology. The program is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).
