A group of students and staff from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) have assisted local charity, Human Appeal International, in distributing gifts to orphans in the region.

The Center for Teaching, Learning and Instructional Technology at AURAK organized the University’s participation in the initiative, gathering a group of student and staff volunteers to give gifts to orphaned children for Eid. Human Appeal International is a charity which focuses on improving the educational, social and economic circumstances of societies.

Dr. Bryn Holmes, director of the center, commented, “We are always looking for positive ways in which AURAK can contribute to the community. The children were so lovely. The work that Human Appeal International carries out, ensuring that these children can also celebrate Eid, is wonderful.”

Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, AURAK president, stated, “This highlights our University’s commitment to the wider Ras Al Khaimah community. This is of utmost importance to our identity as an institution of higher education. We have to use our education to contribute positively to society. I’d like to thank everyone involved in this outstanding initiative.”
