AURAK welcomed its newest students to campus with a two-day Fall 2026 New Student Orientation designed to help them transition smoothly into university life and become familiar with the academic, social and support services available to them.
Held on August 26 and 27, the orientation combined academic introductions with interactive activities, campus engagement and practical guidance. The programme opened with welcome remarks and an address by AURAK President Prof. Bassam Alameddine, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A on the students’ journey to success, an introduction to IT services and the Student Government Association.
Welcoming the new cohort, Prof. Alameddine described the start of university as “an exciting new chapter” and encouraged students to take full advantage of the opportunities available at AURAK.
His central message to students was to “get involved” by engaging with professors, meeting people beyond their usual circles, participating in clubs and student activities, asking questions and making use of university support services. He emphasised that the university experience goes beyond earning a degree, helping students learn to think independently, communicate confidently and work effectively with people holding different perspectives.
Students also had the opportunity to meet their professors and listen to welcome addresses from the Deans, Associate Deans and faculty. The “Passport to AURAK” activity encouraged them to explore the campus, connect with support teams and learn more about the services available to them. Student Life activities, games and refreshments added an informal and engaging dimension to the programme.
The second day placed particular emphasis on supporting international students, while remaining open to all students. Sessions covered Residential Life, visa services, Wellness Support, scholarships and sponsorships, and Career Services, followed by a tour of Ras Al Khaimah.
Concluding his welcome, Prof. Alameddine reminded students that they were joining not simply a university, but the wider AURAK community, encouraging them to challenge themselves, embrace new experiences and make the most of their university years.
