Dr. Ahmad Sakhrieh, chair of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, has been elected as co-president of the Arab-German Young Academy for Sciences and Humanities (AGYA).

The AGYA aims to establish a community of outstanding researchers from Germany and the Arab world who are at an early stage in their academic careers. The AGYA supports innovative collaborative projects and cooperative initiatives from different areas of scientific research, science policy and education.

Earlier this year, AURAK hosted the Energy and Water in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (EWGCC) workshop in conjunction with Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, a university of applied sciences located in Germany, and funded by the German Research Foundation.
