The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance is a prestigious award recognizing students’ achievements in the United Arab Emirates. Prashveen Prasad, a senior student at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), has been named the winner of the Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance is a prestigious award recognizing students’ achievements in the United Arab Emirates. Prashveen Prasad, a senior student at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), has been named the winner of the Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.

Prashveen, a Bachelor of Science student in Petroleum Engineering, demonstrated a wide range of achievements in academics, research, volunteering, and personal and professional development. He achieved high academic honors at the university level, including the President’s List and Dean’s List, and won various awards, such as the AURAK Outstanding Student Club Activity Award and the AURAK Public Speaking Competition. He also achieved national and international recognition, receiving the UAE Golden Visa for Outstanding Academic Performance, the SPE Chapter Excellence Award, and being the winner of the Petro Cup World Student Olympics 2022.

In addition to his academic achievements, Prashveen also excelled in research, presenting papers at prestigious conferences such as ADIPEC and ICECTA and publishing his research in academic journals.

He took advantage of opportunities to enhance his personal and professional skills, including organizing webinars and industrial visits as the President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) AURAK Chapter and also demonstrated a commitment to social responsibility and volunteering through various initiatives such as the “Learn to Make a Smile” initiative, which raised funds for charity through student webinars and serving as a peer tutor and teaching assistant at AURAK.

Prashveen commented: “I was over the moon when I came to know the results. I want to thank the late HH. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for this great initiative.”

During a special recognition ceremony, Prof. Hassan Al Alkim, President of AURAK, presented Prashveen with a special accolade to commemorate this remarkable achievement. This award is a testament to Prashveen’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to academic excellence, research, and social responsibility.

“We are incredibly proud of Prashveen and the outstanding work he has done both in and out of the classroom. His achievements are an inspiration to us all, and we look forward to seeing all the great things he will accomplish in the future”, Prof Al Alkim commented.

Prashveen plans to use the award as motivation to continue working hard to achieve his career goals. He also advised other AURAK students to explore their unique talents and take advantage of all the opportunities offered by the university.
