The Sixth Meeting of the Advisory Council for the School of Engineering

The Sixth meeting of the Advisory Council for the School of Engineering took place on Thursday, January 15th, 2015. Prof. Hasan Al Alkim; the President of AURAK received the chair and members of the council in his office, after acknowledging the important role of the advisory council, Prof. Al Alkim said that AURAK and the School of Engineering in particular have ambitious goal to achieve through setting standards for excellence in engineering education and research.

Prof. Abdullah Al Zarouni; the Chair of the Engineering Advisory Council welcomed and expressed his appreciation to all members of the Engineering Advisory Council who are present especially the two new Members from ADNOC. The Chairperson also thanks and appreciate the former members of the council. Prof. Zarouni also acknowledged and appreciated the leadership of AURAK and School of Engineering. Prof. Zarouni also stressed out the role of the Advisory Council which is to help AURAK school of engineering, said we are trying to place the school of engineering at AURAK within the top engineering schools in the country.

Professor Mousa Mohsen; the Dean of the School of Engineering after presenting the current status of the school of engineering and its future plans; departments and programs, faculty, laboratories, internships and students activities, he added we are committed to further enhancing the research interests of our faculty and engaging in outreach activities to provide the best response to local, national and regional needs, and he said that the additional degree programs in civil engineering and mechanical engineering, which are offered in collaboration with University of Texas at Arlington, in addition to the other new programs; petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering and architecture will make engineering a comprehensive school. Prof. Mohsen acknowledged the role of sponsors in providing scholarships for students in the school of engineering, among those are ADNOC, TRA, Sheik Saqr Program, RAK Gas, RAK Bank, JULPHAR, RAK Charity, Saqr Charity, and Ministry of Presidential Affairs.
