The university provide scholarship and tuition reduction to qualified full time students of all nationalities toward academic excellence and to encourage qualified students from Ras Al Khaimah, the region and overseas to join its academic programs.

The following scholarships and tuition reductions are currently available to eligible students on a competitive basis:

One of AURAK’s goals is to develop and maintain physical fitness among all members of the University community. For many AURAK students sports activities are an essential component of their student experience. Students participating in these sports activities can develop leadership skills, teamwork, discipline, as well as a competitive spirit! Participation in sports positively contributes to the physical and mental health of student athletes.

The following guidelines are expected to be followed by applicants in preparing the portfolio for being considered for the Athletic Scholarship:

1. Athletic Scholarships providing a 30% reduction in tuition are limited to 1 to 2 scholarships per budget year.

2. Athletic Scholarships are awarded to entering undergraduate students who are highly talented and skilled athletes. In the application portfolio, you must:

Provide the name(s) of the sport or sports in which you excel (for example, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Indoor games and Athletics, etc.).
Provide a summary of your achievements in sports, including documentation which may include videos, pictures, certificates, and dates and locations of your sports accomplishments.
Describe any leadership roles or responsibilities held during your secondary school experience in athletics.
Share a written reference letter from a coach/PE teacher to validate your participation in athletics.
Provide the contact information for references should we require additional information from them.

How can I Apply for AURAK Athletic Scholarship?

The deadline for the athletic scholarship application is 10 August 2023.
The final assessments of the applications will be conducted by the athletics staff in the Department of Student Life.
The Office of Admissions will inform applicants of the status of their athletic scholarship application by 20 August.

Criteria for maintaining the Athletic scholarship

1. Athletics scholarships are for a period of one year and will be renewed if:

the CGPA is 2.75 and above.
the student participated during the year as a member of a university team
there are no disciplinary actions against the scholarship recipient

2. If the student is injured playing for a university team, the student can still retain the scholarship for the following year.

Creative Expression Scholarship

Scholarship Details

Creative Expression Scholarships (CES) will be awarded in the following categories:

1. Exemplary Creative Expression Scholarship: 50% scholarship

2. Notable Creative Expression Scholarship: 40% scholarship

3. Promising Creative Expression Scholarship: 30% scholarship

Portfolio Guidelines and Expectations

Students wishing to apply for the Creative Expression Scholarship are required to submit a portfolio demonstrating excellence in creative expression. The student portfolio must adhere to the following guidelines.

Medium of Choice:

Student Portfolios can be designed and/or presented in any electronic medium of the student’s choice
a) Portfolios must be submitted in soft copy
b) Portfolios may be submitted in PDF format or other interactive means

- Applicants must ensure all hyperlinks are functioning prior to submission
- Any work attached via a broken hyperlink will not be evaluated
- The presentation of the portfolio, itself, is a demonstration of creativity

Cover Page
a) Must include the applicant’s full name
b) Date of submission

Personal Statement Video

a) The video must feature the applicant speaking
b) Applicants should express themselves in English
c) Applicants should discuss their overall creative process- Describe why they have selected these works for inclusion in their portfolio
d) The video must be no longer than two minutes (120 seconds)

Each work must include the following statement of authenticity

I attest that this work is entirely my own, and has been created independently by me without assistance
Applicants found to have submitted work that is not their own will immediately have their application withdrawn from consideration.

The Portfolio must include at least one item from the visual arts category and the performing arts category as described in the following table:

Portfolio Submission and Review Process

Applicants wishing to apply for a Creative Expression Scholarship, are required to submit a portfolio for review and evaluation by a faculty selection committee comprised of faculty members in architecture/ interior design and mass communication.

1. Applicants should submit their portfolio (constructed in a medium of their choice) through the application link provided.
2. The submission deadline for 2023-2024 academic year will be 10 August 2023.
3. The CES selection committee will evaluate each portfolio according to the rubric developed for the purpose.
4. The Office of Admissions will inform applicants of the status of their scholarship application by 20 August 2023.
a) The video must feature the applicant speaking
b) Applicants should express themselves in English
c) Applicants should discuss their overall creative process
- Describe why they have selected these works for inclusion in their portfolio
d) The video must be no longer than two minutes (120 seconds)

Diversity of Expression
a) The applicant must include a minimum of four works for evaluation
Each work must include
- A unique title
- Date (or time) of production
- 50-word description
i) Describe the purpose of the piece
ii) Describe the creative process behind the work
- Each work must be on a separate page
i) Any and all videos have a 2 ½ minute maximum length
ii) Any and all images should be reviewed for color and pixelization

Entrepreneurship Scholarship

Instructions for Portfolio on Entrepreneurship Scholarship

The applicants applying for an Entrepreneurship Scholarship, which provides for a 30% reduction in tuition fees, should prepare a portfolio of entrepreneurial accomplishments illustrating the achievements related to developing entrepreneurial skills, venturing activities, and recognition and awards. The portfolio must be submitted by 10 August 2023 through the scholarship link provided.

The portfolio will be assessed through a two-dimensional matrix and associated rubric measuring Entrepreneurial Activities and Entrepreneurial Impact. The Office of Admissions will inform applicants of the status of their scholarship application by 20 August.

Criteria 1: Veracity (of skills) (Activities and Impact) 40%

The entrepreneurial skills may include but are not restricted to creativity, problem-solving, leadership, and communication.

The applicants should demonstrate in their portfolio which entrepreneurial skills they have developed through their educational journey.
The applicants should show evidence of the credibility and trustworthiness of those skills to enhance their entrepreneurial personality by citing real-life examples.
The applicants must show proof of any feedback or grading on their entrepreneurial skills as part of their high school coursework.
The applicants must demonstrate in the portfolio how these entrepreneurial skills create a developmental impact on them and possibly others.

Criteria 2: Venturing (Activities and Impact) 30%

The applicants should demonstrate in their portfolio whether they have actual or simulated experience in entrepreneurial venturing.
The applicants should show in their portfolio if they have established a startup, or if they initiated the licensing process for a startup, or have a well-developed business plan for a startup.
The applicants should indicate in their portfolio if they have any apprentice experience.

Criteria 3: Validation (Activities and Impact) 30%

The applicants should show in their portfolio if their ideas or innovation have been validated by their institution or external organization through awards or certification of achievement related to entrepreneurial events or activities.
The applicants should show evidence of participation in entrepreneurial events verified by external bodies sponsoring the events.
Finally, the applicants should demonstrate in their portfolio if their ideas and innovation can positively impact stakeholders, society, and the economy in general.

Community Service Scholarship

Guidelines for the Portfolio for Community Service Activities Scholarship

Community service activities help to develop and enhance student knowledge, skills and networking and build personal qualities such as empathy, compassion, and social responsibility. It generates self-reflection, creates a sense of purpose, and adds to the overall character development of students. By engaging in community service, students develop the courage to contribute to the betterment of society. They become active citizens, understand social issues, and take action to address them. As a result of such engagement, students continuously acquire and refine a wide range of skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, which are invaluable for their personal and professional growth. Community service also widens their networking with community members from different backgrounds and professions which can further contribute to personal and professional growth.

The following guidelines are expected to be followed by applicants in preparing the portfolio for being considered for the Community Service Scholarship:

Provide a description for each community service activity undertaken ( a minimum participation in three activities is required to be eligible for consideration for the application).
Include the activity title, dates, location, and a concise summary of the activities.
Highlight the goals, objectives, and expected outcomes of each activity.
Mention any linkage to national or international goals such as SDGs, humanitarian initiatives, health campaigns, etc.
Mention any leadership roles or responsibilities held during the project.
Provide any personal reflections on the community service activities.
Describe the impact of your involvement on your personal growth and quality, and the impact on the community.
Reflect on challenges faced and lessons learned.
Include anecdotes, stories, and examples to make reflections more engaging.
Include supporting materials that demonstrate your involvement.
Attach photographs, videos, or any visual documentation from the community service activity.
Include testimonials, letters of appreciation or certifications from community members, organizations, or supervisors.
Highlight the skills and competencies developed through community service.
Provide contact information for further inquiries or references.
Ensure the portfolio is well-organized, visually appealing, and error-free.

We understand that investing in your child's education is a significant financial commitment. To ensure that financial constraints do not hinder their academic journey, AURAK has designated funds specifically for students who meet our admission criteria but face financial challenges. Our Need-Based Financial Grants Program aims to alleviate the financial burden and provide a pathway to educational excellence.

Requirements

To be eligible for a Financial Grant, students must meet the following requirements:

Official letter of admission: Students must have received an official letter of admission to AURAK.
Limited financial resources: Students should demonstrate limited financial resources, indicating a need for financial assistance.
GPA and enrollment status: Enrolled students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above and be full-time students (minimum of 12 credits).

A Need-Based Financial Grant can be combined with a scholastic achievement scholarship or a talent/skill-based scholarship if the scholarship recipient can demonstrate that the family is unable to pay the tuition and fees not covered by the scholarship.

Sibling Scholarships

AURAK provides a 20% tuition discount for the second, or more sibling of an existing fully enrolled student in any academic program at the university (continuing and new).
This scholarship is valid with the condition that all siblings are enrolled at AURAK at the same time.

For students admitted who are employees of entities that have been designated as “AURAK Scholarship Partners” will be granted a 20% tuition discount.

Faculty / Staff Scholarships

Faculty: 100% tuition waiver for self, spouse, children.
Staff: 30% tuition discount for self, spouse, children.

Alumni Scholarships

For AURAK alumni admitted to pursue an additional graduate degree will be granted will be granted 20% tuition discount.
