Western Atlantic University School of Medicine

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) and Western Atlantic University School of Medicine (WAUSM) have established a strategic partnership to provide eligible AURAK students with an accelerated pathway to a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

Through this collaboration, Biotechnology students can progress from AURAK to WAUSM's U.S.-modeled MD program, benefiting from an accelerated academic pathway, scholarship opportunities, and preparation for medical careers.

Partnership Highlights

• Accelerated 3+3 MD Pathway – Eligible Biotechnology students complete three years (97 credits) at AURAK before progressing to the three-year MD program at WAUSM. Upon successful completion of the first year of the MD program, 31 designated credits are transferred back to AURAK, enabling students to complete the 128-credit B.Sc. Biotechnology degree while continuing their medical studies.
• Pathway Partnership Scholarship – Eligible students admitted through the partnership receive a USD 10,000 tuition scholarship toward their MD program.
• Additional Scholarships – Students may also apply for scholarships of up to USD 100,000, subject to WAUSM's scholarship criteria and availability.
• U.S.-Modeled Medical Education – Students benefit from a competency-based medical curriculum aligned with the U.S. medical education system.
• Clinical Training Opportunities – Access to clinical rotations and hands-on training opportunities in the United States.
• USMLE Preparation – The curriculum prepares students for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
• Guaranteed Interview – Eligible applicants who meet the partnership requirements will receive a guaranteed interview for admission to WAUSM's MD program.
