Dr. Ali Al-Ataby

Dr. Ali Al-Ataby is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), UAE. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Signal Processing and Machine Learning from the University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK, an M.Sc. in Electronic Circuits and Systems Engineering (Distinction), and a B.Sc. in Electronic and Communications Engineering (First Class with Honours). Dr. Al-Ataby also holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Higher Education in Learning and Teaching. With professional experience spanning academia and industry since 1997, Dr. Al-Ataby joined the University of Liverpool in 2011 as an Assistant Professor in Signal Processing and Machine Learning and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017, before joining AURAK in 2023. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) by the IET, a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE), and a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy or Advance HE (SFHEA). He has been recognized with a number of prestigious awards in the UK, including the Sir Alastair Pilkington Award for Excellence and the Faculty of Science & Engineering Learning and Teaching Award from the University of Liverpool. Dr. Al-Ataby’s research interests include Image and Signal Processing, Machine Learning and AI, Robotics, IoT, Technology-Enhanced Education, and Pedagogical Research.
