Dr. Hussain Attia
Assistant Professor-Electronics Engineering
Hussain Attia is a Senior Member of the IEEE Society (SMIEEE), and an Assistant Professor at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK). He obtained his Ph.D. in Power Electronics from the University of Malaya (Universiti Malaya), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2019, an M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering, and a B.Sc. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq, in 1999 and 1991, respectively.
Dr. Attia is a Member of the Editorial Board of IGI Global for the published book “Advancements in Sustainable Architecture and Energy Efficiency”, and a Member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems. He served as a technical and organizing member for many IEEE and international conferences such as ICEDSA/2016, ICECTA/2017, ICEWES/2018, ICECTA/2019, and ICECTA/2022.
He is an active reviewer of high-ranked journals such as IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IET Power Electronics, IET Electric Power Applications, as well as IEEE and international conferences. Dr. Attia has published more than 80 articles in international journals and conferences as an author or co-author, most of his publications being in the field of multifunctional power electronics systems integration and renewable energy system applications.
He has won many awards from AURAK, including the President’s Award for Faculty – Outstanding Researcher/AY 2019-2020 from the President’s Office of AURAK on July 14, 2020, and the Long Service Award at AURAK on May 23, 2025.
Dr. Hussain Attia earned his Ph.D. in Power Electronics from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2019 and his M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering and B.Sc. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq in 1999, and 1991 respectively.
