Ms. Kate Moore

Kate Moore is an Instructor of English in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. In her current role, she teaches within the English Language Program (ELP) and English for Academic Purposes provision. She also serves as the academic advisor for all learners enrolled in the ELP and as faculty advisor for the “English for All” official student organization.

Kate has over 15 years of experience teaching in higher education settings in the United States, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. This experience spans developmental English, L2 composition, general English as a second language, English for academic purposes, public speaking, French as a foreign language, the first-year undergraduate experience, and study skills development. During her career, she has taken on multiple coordinator, mentor, and advising roles, impacting and supporting peers and students beyond the classroom. Her receipt of the US-Arab Bilateral Chamber of Commerce TEACH Fellowship and the Salzburg International Study Program Fellowship directly influenced her decision to move her career abroad.

As a lifelong learner in practice, Kate is a current doctoral student in TESOL at the University of St Andrews in the United Kingdom. Her research interests include cross-disciplinary approaches to language teaching, learning community programs in higher education, and informed approaches to the use of artificial intelligence in language teaching. As a student-centered educator, she aims to foster intellectual curiosity among learners, strengthen community, and emphasize the connection between academic and "real-world" pursuits.
