American University of Ras Al Khaimah Hosts Engineering Workshop
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) and its School of Engineering has hosted a one-day workshop, entitled the ‘Engineer’s Role in Economic Development Workshop’.
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) and its School of Engineering has hosted a one-day workshop, entitled the ‘Engineer’s Role in Economic Development Workshop’.
The workshop was officially opened by AURAK president, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, who praised the initiative, underlining the importance of engineering innovation in tackling the problems we face in modern society.
The first keynote speech was delivered by H.E. Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, who spoke about ‘Oil in World Markets’ and the factors affecting oil prices and its production. Hussein Wehbe and Salman Shobaki also gave talks in which they provided modern-day examples of engineering ingenuity.
Professor Al Alkim also commented on his satisfaction at seeing so many of AURAK’s engineering students attending the event, as it is they who are the future. AURAK has a large School of Engineering, offering a total of ten programs, including Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil and Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
