AURAK Celebrates President’s Awards
Last night saw the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) celebrate its annual president’s awards for the academic year 2015/16, recognizing faculty and staff for their outstanding performance throughout the year.
Last night saw the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) celebrate its annual president’s awards for the academic year 2015/16, recognizing faculty and staff for their outstanding performance throughout the year.
Prof. Hamid Berriche (School of Arts and Sciences, physics) and Dr. Reda Abdel Azim (School of Engineering, petroleum engineering) won the Distinguished Scholarship Award and the Distinguished New Scholars Award respectively, recognizing their outstanding research over the course of 2015/16.
Dr. Rachel Matar (School of Arts and Sciences, biochemistry) and Dr. Maen Takruri (School of Engineering, electrical engineering) each received an Exceptional Academic Service Award, while Dr. Maxime Merheb (School of Arts and Sciences, biology) won the Excellence in Academic Advising Award.
Ms. Anna Ortiz, secretary to the dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research, was also rewarded, earning the Outstanding Service to the Faculty Award for her valuable contribution to her school.
The event, which took place on the recently-inaugurated university lawn, featured dinner and live music, giving faculty and staff an opportunity to socialize outside of working hours.
