The American University of Ras Al Khaimah’s (AURAK) Department of Accounting and Finance hosted a public lecture by Ms. Charlotte Eaton, the International Account Manager for the Association of Accounting Technicians (ATT), to encourage students in obtaining their professional accounting certification.
Ms. Charlotte Eaton represented the ATT in a presentation at the AURAK campus, enlightening students on the benefits and advantages of obtaining the association’s professional certificate and the steps and procedures needed to attain this highly regarded qualification. ATT is the world’s leading professional body for accounting technicians with over 140,000 members worldwide. The accounting technician certification is a technician level qualification offering higher apprenticeships entitling those who have completed the exams and obtained relevant supervised work experience. Students learned how those with professional accounting certification gain an enormous advantage in the professional market over less qualified individuals. Amongst the topics discussed in her presentation, Ms. Charlotte touched on the background and history of the association, the career benefits of gaining a professional status, and a roadmap of the steps needed to acquire such a qualification.
With AURAK being an independent, public, state-owned, non-profit, coeducational institution of higher education offering degrees based on the North American model and the cultural characteristics of the Gulf region, President Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, was pleased with Ms. Eaton’s presentation in that not only did it open a job opportunity for students, but it also provided them with a detailed road map for them to attain a certification essential for making their professional aspirations a reality. “AURAK students know they can receive the quality education and certification needed to be successful in their careers and lives. We see their success being enabled in the quality speakers we bring in and the lectures we host, and we see the results of these noble projects when our alumni and faculty later come to us and demonstrate stories of success of these illustrious endeavors.”
