AURAK held its first annual Volunteer Fair to bring local organizations to campus in order to connect them to potential student volunteers. Students responded by visiting the tables of the organizations and signing up for volunteer duties. Off campus visits to both the Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare Center and the RAK Autism Center are planned for March and April. These events, along with the Volunteer Fair, will provide the necessary connections for AURAK students and help them get started with their volunteer goals for the community.
“There is AURAK student interest in giving back to Ras Al Khaimah and they care deeply about helping others. We just need to support them by bringing organizations to campus to inform them of local needs in our community,” said Ms. Heather McGann, Manager, Office of International Programs at AURAK.
“This event reflects one of the main goals of the university – community engagement. AURAK aims in the Volunteer Fair to encourage its students to contribute to community and make it a better place. Also it allows the volunteers to enrich their social experience” said Prof. Hasan Al Alkim, President of the American University of Ras Al Khaimah.
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is an independent co-education institution of Higher Education that provides an integrated American-style, undergraduate and graduate education with a strong focus on local indigenous culture.
