Ms. Wiktoria Aleksandra Szydlak opened the session on August 29 with announcements and introduced the Associate Provost - Office of Student Success, Dr. Denise Gifford, who thanked students and parents for coming and choosing AURAK.

The Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success, Professor Stephen Wilhite, welcomed the new students and called on them to use the institution’s faculty, clubs and organizations to achieve a well-rounded educational experience.

The Student Government Association briefed students on its role and how joining can enrich their scholastic experience.

Student ambassadors informed attendees about the various centers and services that the university provides such as the Saqr Library, the Counseling, Testing and Disability Services Department, and study abroad and exchange opportunities. The event concluded with advice on financial management from Dr. Gifford.

AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, said he was optimistic with the promise of what lies on the horizon of the new academic year with SACSOC accreditation approval well on the way, the Solar Decathlon in Dubai, and numerous other highlights planned throughout the year.

“It’s an exciting time to be a Tahr. The AURAK community will be celebrating numerous milestones with record-breaking enrollment numbers, the opening of new, advanced facilities, and various other events and competitions. The campus atmosphere is simply charged with electricity,” he said.
