The First Civil and Infrastructure Engineering Conference (ICCIE2018) concluded at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. The final day of the conference commenced with Prof. Stephen Wilhite, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success, welcoming the participants and wishing them great success. He thanked the Ras Al Khaimah Finance Department and Ras Al Khaimah Public Services department for their valuable support.

Authors from the UAE and abroad presented their research work on several topics, including concrete properties and characteristics, geotechnical engineering, wastewater treatment, recycling of solid waste, traffic management, construction management, and urban design. Presentations drew great interest from the audience; there were numerous lively discussions. Several AURAK faculty and students participated in the conference. Students from the ASCE CIEN Club worked diligently in supporting conference activities.

At the conclusion of the conference, Dr. Hamed Assaf, the Chair of the Civil and Infrastructure Engineering Department, thanked authors and participants. He indicated that papers presented in the conference will be compiled and posted on the conference website. Selected papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of Environmental Engineering and Sciences.

AURAK President, Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, is pleased that AURAK is able to be a platform for conferences like these where ideas can be shared and research can be advanced.

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab of Emirates (UAE) is a government-owned institution of higher education which provides an integrated North American-style education. It is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in UAE and offers a total of 22 undergraduate and graduate programs across a wide range of disciplines. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) awarded the institution candidacy status in July 2017.
