The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) hosted a two-day orientation for new faculty members to update them on University services, policies, and procedures.

The AURAK faculty hit the new academic school year running with a two-day orientation for new faculty packed with essential information for the year ahead. The first day of orientation held the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success, Professor Stephen Wilhite, delivering multiple presentations over faculty obligations to Teaching, Research, and Service.  His presentations were followed by the many academic deans of the institutions presenting information from their respective areas, including The Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Bilal Akash, the Dean of the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management, Dr. Lee Waller, the Dean of the Office of Academic Support Services, Professor Steven Zani, as well as additional presentations by directors and managers of programs that are essential to faculty.

Day two of the orientation was just as busy. Professor Stephen and Faculty Senate Chairperson, Prof. Ahmed Al Sharif, began the day with “Shared Governance,” and again presenters from a variety of programs addressed programs and support services available to faculty, including presentations on Advising practices, Blackboard,  AURAK’s General Education program, and more.  The session ended with a panel discussion including both faculty and student representation, addressing AURAK culture.

AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, was awed by the lengths in which the AURAK family were willing to go in order to facilitate the new faculty members’ transition into life at AURAK, “Every day I am humbled by how selflessly our faculty sacrifices their time and effort to ensure that everyone achieves their goals.  It is by the sweat and tears from these amazing individuals that the success of AURAK is founded. AURAK produces numerous successful, global citizens because of the magnanimous examples they are provided to emulate.”
