As a public, government-owned institution, it is an annual tradition and honor for the university and its representatives to be invited to the home of the ruler to observe Ramadan. The delegation, headed by its president, Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, consisted of male faculty and staff, who all individually greeted the ruler. The female faculty members and staff were also invited and graciously hosted by Sheikha Hana bint Juma Al Majid, wife of the Emirate ruler, and were privileged with personally meeting the Sheikha. Friendly discourse was held concerning the Sheikh’s vision for AURAK of providing the people of Ras Al Khaimah with a quality American style education before communing over a finely prepared meal.
