AURAK Reaches Britain

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) Department of International Programs and Partnerships (DIPP) assisted two Emirati students in attending the Two Week British Culture and Society Programme at Herford College, Oxford in the United Kingdom.

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) Department of International Programs and Partnerships (DIPP) assisted two Emirati students in attending the Two Week British Culture and Society Programme at Herford College, Oxford in the United Kingdom.

Hertford College was founded in 1282 and is one of the oldest of Oxford University’s 38 colleges. Located in the center of historic Oxford, Hertford College is an ideal setting for students wishing to improve their language skills and knowledge of Britain and British culture.

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is an independent, public, state-owned, non-profit, coeducational institution that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. AURAK is an institution of higher education providing comprehensive academic programs based on the North American model and the cultural characteristics of the Gulf region, committed to the highest standards of teaching, research, ethics, and service to the community.

The DIPP assisted in the enrollment of two Emirati students, Abdulla Al Sereidi and Maryam Al Hamoudi, in the Two Week British Culture and Society Program at Hertford College, Oxford from Sunday, March 17, 2019 to Saturday, March 30, 2019. They were immersed in academic workshops such as a Presentation Workshop, Pronunciation Workshop, Media and Communication, Vocabulary Development, Academic Debating Skills, Drama Workshop, and Flash Fiction and Creative Writing Workshop. They also attended various presentations designed to expose them to the British culture such as History of the English Language, Alice in Wonderland, Study Tour of London, Study of a Cultural Icon (William Shakespeare), Food and Drink, Advanced Social English, and Youth Culture. The program ended with the students delivering a presentation incorporating the skills they learned from the workshops they attended throughout the program.

AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, was delighted with the student participation in the program, “English universities offer a hard core education with a diverse cultural and professional atmosphere; the lives of these students will forever be changed due to their experiences abroad.”
