AURAK Receives Software Donation From Petex
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) President, Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, signed The Agreement for the Educational Licenses of IMP Suite with Dr. Abdelhamid Guedroudj, CEO of Petroleum Experts Ltd. UK (PeTEX), to receive a software donation of ten educational user licenses of its Integrated Production Modeling (IMP) suite, totaling to the monetary value of £1,900,000.
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) President, Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, signed The Agreement for the Educational Licenses of IPM Suite with Dr. Abdelhamid Guedroudj, CEO of Petroleum Experts Ltd. UK (Petex), to receive a software donation of ten educational user licenses of its Integrated Production Modeling (IPM) suite, totaling to the monetary value of £1,900,000.
Petex is a petroleum engineering and structural geology company based in Edinburg of the United Kingdom that develops software tools such as Integrated Production Modeling Software, Real Time Field Management software, and Structural Geology Models enabling engineers to construct system models and streamline gas or oil production efficiency.
The IPM software suite that AURAK will receive includes the tools PROSPER, MBAL, GAP, PVTp, REVEAL, and RESOLVE, and will bolster AURAK’s Petroleum Engineering Program in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. And, as per the agreement, it will be used exclusively for teaching and research purposes.
"These petroleum engineering software tools are the standard across the worldwide oil and gas industry and are currently used by more than 350 oil and gas companies,” as stated by Dr. Abdelhamid Guedroudj, Therefore, this software will give AURAK students an edge in real world experiences and knowledge they can expect to see and use in their profession after graduation. Thus, giving them an advantage in the job market.
Prof. Hassan is both elated and humbled by the generous investment that Petex is making in the AURAK youth and the future of the Ras Al Khaimah workforce, He is eager to utilize this new tool in reinforcing an already strong curriculum to produce a more robust workforce.
